Winter weather is here and driving on wet and snow-covered roads can be tricky. Temperature, wind, sun and shade impact road conditions and impact traction. I always get a little nervous when people follow too closely. The following too close drivers are the ones to easily rear-end another vehicle or land in the ditch trying to avoid that. So keep a healthy distance between you and other vehicles.
Do not use cruise control when driving on wet, snowy or icy roads.
If you get stuck, use sand, salt or another abrasive surface in front of and in back of the drive wheels.
And so, eight things to keep in your vehicle during this time of year are: a bag of salt or sand, a small snow shovel, a snow brush/ice scraper, traction mats, a flashlight, extra gloves or mittens, a blanket, and warning flares or triangles.
